Join us for a night of Bluegrass in our beautiful Hilda Willis Outdoor Amphitheater. The show begins at 6:30 pm with The Shameless Hex, followed by an intermission. The night then closes with Jakob's Ferry Stragglers.
The Shameless Hex
Founded in the summer of 2013, The Shameless Hex is a Pittsburgh-based string band focused on playing quality originals and covers for all who care to listen. With influences ranging from traditional bluegrass, classic country, modern folk, jam rock, and jazz, The Shameless Hex has created a grooving sound that is somewhere between all five styles.
In 2012, front-man and guitarist, Joe Kolenda, moved back to his home state of PA. During that summer, he reunited with mandolin player, Ryan Meanor for a cabin trip. What started as a campfire jam with some friends, quickly got the two playing together regularly, writing original music, and learning covers. Seven years later they are going stronger than ever. With a regular rotation of Pittsburgh's finest bluegrass pickers sitting in on upright bass, banjo, slide guitar, and fiddle, listeners are in for a unique treat every time the band plays.
Jakob’s Ferry Stragglers
Hailing from the mountain towns of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Maryland, The Jakob’s Ferry Stragglers draw freely from Old-Time, Bluegrass, Rockabilly, and Swing music to create their own brand of high energy, Appalachian Bluegrass. Gary Antol (guitar/vocals) and Libby Eddy (fiddle/vocals) founded the band in 2014 with a very simple goal: write good songs, honor the music, and take it to the road. In the time since, JFS has appeared at festivals and clubs all across the country.
